New Starters 2023

Welcome!

On behalf of everyone at Churchfield Church School and Nursery, we would like to wish a warm welcome to our wonderful new co-hort of children who will be transitioning into Reception during the next academic year. It will be a real pleasure to get to know all of our lovely new and existing families that are joining us.

During the upcoming weeks and months ahead, we will use this space to share with you any information or updates about your child’s transition into Reception.

Dates for your diary

Wednesday 7th June at 2pm-School Readiness Workshop for Parents

When you are thinking about your child starting school it can raise many questions, feelings, and emotions for you and your family. This workshop will help support you and your child to be school ready.

Wednesday 28th June – 6.00-7.00pm- New Parents Induction Evening

An invitation for parents to meet your child’s class teacher, hear how we organise the school day and how you can best support your child’s transition into school.

This is a formal meeting and your child is not required to attend as they will have lots of other opportunities to meet their teacher.

Tuesday 27th– Thursday 29th June- Transition Days

This is an opportunity for children to experience the Reception classrooms and meet the Reception teachers. The children will be dropped off at Nursery, then come and spend their usual nursery hours in Reception.

Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th September- Home Visits

The reception teachers will be arranging home visits for this week. This is an opportunity for the teachers to find out a little bit more about your child (their interests and how to support them with settling in at school). The teachers will be in touch with you to arrange a time and date.

EYFS Uniform

Key information that will help your child at school

  • All children need to have spare clothes in a named bag on their pegs.

  • Each piece of clothing needs to have a NAME in it. Use a marker pen or iron on labels. If things are not named, they will get lost!

  • All children to have wellies and waterproofs in school- we spend a lot of time outside playing with sand and water.

  • For practical reasons we advise against summer dresses, dresses or skirts, tights, boys’ trousers with buttons- we are trying to develop the children’s independence. The trainers are for safety reasons as our children spend a lot of time outside climbing, playing in the sand etc.

  • The children in Reception do not need a separate PE kit.

School Uniform (EYFS)

  • Purple School jumper/Cardigan

  • White or purple Polo Shirt

  • Black tracksuit bottoms with elasticated waist (winter)/PE shorts (summer)

  • Black trainers with no logo

See Uniform section on the website for further information.
