RE Vision Statement
RE Vision
At Churchfield school we take great pride in building young people who will be valuable members of our community. Christian distinctiveness is the heartbeat that flows through Churchfield school and at the centre of this is our RE curriculum.
Winston Churchill once said “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” Our bible verse, Joshua 1:9 focuses on this. 'Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'
We encourage our children to be informed courageous advocates who stand up for the PRAISE values that are the bedrock of our school.
We believe knowledge is empowerment and aim to give our children, through their RE education, the skills to unpick and understand, to draw parallels and investigate differences in our global community and not to ‘tolerate’ but to embrace our differences and see how they weave into life’s rich tapestry.
Within RE at Churchfield School, we aim to engage children in sustained shared thinking about significant human questions which are addressed through different religions and worldviews. We support children to develop the understanding and skills they need to consider varied responses to these questions and develop their own views and ideas over time.
By the time children leave our care, we aim to encourage them to be global citizens who embrace, reflect and practise the values of our school. To show responsibility, empathy, generosity and compassion.
