Welcome!

On behalf of everyone at Churchfield Church School and Nursery, we would like to wish a warm welcome to our wonderful new cohort of children who will be transitioning into Reception during the next academic year. It will be a real pleasure to get to know all of our lovely new and existing families that are joining us.

During the upcoming weeks and months ahead, we will use this space to share with you any information or updates about your child’s transition into Reception.

EYFS Uniform

Key information that will help your child at school

  • All children need to have spare clothes in a named bag on their pegs.

  • Each piece of clothing needs to have a NAME in it. Use a marker pen or iron on labels. If things are not named, they will get lost!

  • All children to have wellies and waterproofs in school- we spend a lot of time outside playing with sand and water.

  • For practical reasons we advise against summer dresses, dresses or skirts, tights, boys’ trousers with buttons- we are trying to develop the children’s independence. The trainers are for safety reasons as our children spend a lot of time outside climbing, playing in the sand etc.

  • The children in Reception do not need a separate PE kit.

School Uniform (EYFS)

  • Purple School jumper/Cardigan

  • White or purple Polo Shirt

  • Black tracksuit bottoms with elasticated waist (winter)/PE shorts (summer)

  • Black trainers with no logo

See Uniform section on the website for further information.

Reception Baseline Assessment

When your child starts school they will be participating in the reception baseline assessment (RBA) within the first 6 weeks of starting school. The purpose of the assessment is to provide the starting point for a progress measure that will help parents understand how well schools support their pupils to progress between reception and year 6.

You can find more information on this below.
