• Mr Philcox, Headteacher, announces his retirement.

  Mr. Philcox has informed the school of his decision to retire on the 3^rd April 2020. The governors are sorry to hear of his forthcoming departure, as in his two years of headship here at Churchfield School, he has worked hard to enable our school to continue to improve for all of our children. He has had their wellbeing, their progress and opportunities for new and exciting experiences at the heart of every decision; he will be hugely missed. I am sure you would wish to join me in wishing him the very best for his future, in retirement.

  In the meantime, Mrs. Eveleigh, who is the Regional Director for the BWMAT, will continue working closely with Mr Philcox until the end of the spring term to ensure there is a smooth transition to the new Head. The recruitment for the new Headteacher has started and we hope to make an appointment in the very near future.

• School Council Elections

  We are delighted that so many children wanted to be part of our School Council. The elections were held last week and the children in Year 4-6 were presented with their School Council badges in Worship this afternoon. Mr. Armstrong spoke of how democracy is important in both in school and in our country. The children are really keen to get started at their first meeting later this week.

  

• Elaine Harmon

  It with great sadness that I have to inform the school community about the sudden and unexpected death of Elaine Harmon. Elaine started working in the Churchfield Nursery in 2006 and worked closely with many children, families and staff in both the school and nursery over the years.

   

  Our thoughts and prayers are with Elaine's family and friends at this time.
