Fir - Year 1
World Cup celebrations!
Our class teams were picked in assembly and we had Egypt and Germany, but sadly they got knocked out of the World Cup .
All the children in Fir class also had their own country to support, like a sweep stake picked randomly.
Damian’s team was France, so he is the World Cup winner in Fir class!
We had a great day out at the Apex today.
We fed the ducks, walked to see the boats on the estuary, sketched some lovely pictures of the park before having a picnic. After food, we exercised on the gym equipment, played football and enjoyed the park
When we got back to school we had a well earned ice lolly!
Huish house won the sports day for KS1.
Well done Huish!
Fir class assembly
We did our assembly to show our work about all the things we have learnt about the world around us.
We spoke in different languages, performed some songs and showed lots of different work.
Everyone enjoyed and we even had the map to show the children all the different places.
As part of our topic about money, Year 1 were lucky to have a tour of Asda this week.
We went to the offices, warehouse, home delivery department and in the store.
Some of us even had a chance to scan objects at the checkout.
Following that, Kelly, the Community Champion from Asda, came to school in the afternoon and brought lots of different fruit and vegetables for us to taste.
Our Year One trip to Greatwood.
We have been learning about the Great Outdoors, and went on a trip to Greatwood to learn even more!
We travelled on a coach and took part in lots of activities.
We went on a tree hunt to find lots of different trees working in groups, looking closely at the different leaves on the trees.
We made crowns after finding lots of different natural things around us, such as leaves, petals and small sticks.
We really enjoyed going into the stream in our wellies, working together to make a dam using lots of stones, rocks and sticks.
We searched for different things in the field and hedges, things that were sticky, smooth, rough, prickly, green and much more.
The sun was shining and we all had lots of fun!
Race for Life
We planted some beans last week... look how much they have grown already! We have been writing bean diaries to record their growth.
Earth day - Fir class and Year 5 pupils shared some board games during Earth hour at school. We turned all electrical resources off, including computers and lights.
The sun has got his hat on, and Fir class have come out to play!
Children in Year 1 visited King Alfred's School this morning for a sports festival.
The theme was pirates and pupils from King Alfred's School led the five activities.
We had lots of fun practising all the different skills we have learnt in P.E lessons with Mr Fisher.
Sport relief - Fir class helped towards the billion steps challenge.
Easter celebrations - making nests and the bonnet parade.
Year One enjoyed a snowy visit to Bristol Zoo on Monday to support our science topic of animals. We were all really keen to see the meerkats as we’d already learnt so much about them in class. Whilst we were there we listened to a talk about the lions and watched them being fed some rather large chunks of meat. The children really enjoyed the day and on return to class we wrote up the day in a recount.
